An Open Letter To The Motel 6 In Willows, California
by Amy Lindorff
Dear Willows Motel 6,
You are the hidden gem of the I-5 corridor. Jerry, Dusty, and I were driving up to Oregon for the patriarch’s 80th birthday festivities and since we had all the dogs with us we were not Holiday Inn Express or Best Western eligible. We ended up in Willows around midnight and there you were:
Hardwood floors! IKEA-ish bedding! A pool! A microwave and minifridge! A modern sink! An HD flatscreen television! No sign of a used, pubic hair covered washcloth in the shower (which we were treated to at the Motel 6 in Stockton on our return trip)! As an added bonus, there was a Denny’s that stayed open just for us across the road (thanks, Michelle, for coming in even though your car “blew up”) and a Starbucks for the morning where people couldn’t stop complimenting the big white dog. It couldn’t have been a more perfect road trip stay.
P.S. By “all the dogs” I mean three of them. You were generous in allowing us two and we snuck in the third. Thanks for not noticing!!
